Great Ideas for Scrapbooks

Here are some scrapbooking tips for those that are not interested in the creating a traditional scrapbook. When most people think of scrapbooks, they think of layout pages filled with photos placed in neat photo corners and stickers or die cuts pasted on patterned paper, but the fact is there are many types of scrapbooks with many motives behind keeping them.

For instance, one friend of mine keeps scrapbooks filled with letters and cards from friends and loved ones. These are not your traditional scrapbooks with patterned paper and foam stickers.

She lives in a remote area and is quite secluded from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world. When she first moved to this area, she felt cut off from the rest of the world and went into a deep depression. When a beautiful card came in the mail, it sparked an idea and she began to keep all her correspondence in an 8 and ½ by 11 spiral bound scrapbook so that she could add pages as she went.

The books are sharp, clean with a classic look. She chooses a color scheme for each one. The color scheme generally follows the seasons or at times might have a theme of nature such as waterfalls, mountains, or deserts.

Another friend of mine is a writer and artist and has kept a journal from early childhood. She has always added special things within the pages of the journals that inspire her. Little by little her journals morphed into a collection of mediums. She has now graduated to what she calls the perfect blend of writing, artwork and scrapbooking. Before she writes a word nowadays she takes time to create a theme for that particular book. She keeps a separate journal for ramblings that do not fit well into her themed books.
